“Chutian Schilars” Program
1. Introduction
Hubei Provincial Department of Education has decided to implement “Chutian Scholars” Program and support institutions of higher education to employ “Chutian Scholars”. The program aims at carrying out the strategy of reinvigorating Hubei Province through talents, strengthening the construction of high-level talent teams of Hubei higher education institutions, attracting and cultivating a number of discipline pioneers with international and national leading levels and thus forming a set of excellent innovation teams.
“Chutian Scholars” consists of three levels, respectively lecturing professors, specially-appointed professors (including chief lecturing professors) and Chutian Talents. The employment scale covers natural science and humanities. Each year, Hubei Province will employ 10 lecturing professors, 40 specially-appointed professors (including 10 chief lecturing professors) and 50 Chutian Talents with the tenure of 5 years, during which Chutian scholars can enjoy financial support from “Chutian Scholars” Program.
2. Employment of Disciplines
Marine and Oceanic Structure Design and Manufacture, Marine Engine Engineering, Machinery Manufacture and Automation, Communication and Information System, Materialogy, Material Physics and Chemistry, Material Processing Engineering, Structural Engineering, Technical Economy and Management, Solid Mechanics, Management Science and Engineering, Artistic Design Theory, Art Theory, Vehicle Engineering, Mining Engineering, etc.
3. Requirements/Qualifications
Lecturing Professors
(1) The candidate should have enthusiasm to serve for WUT with noble science morality, rigid academic style, decent manners and cooperative spirit.
(2) The candidate should be engaged in the front line of teaching and scientific researches at abroad. Moreover, the candidate should also hold the assistant professorship or above (or a similar position) in universities.
(3) The candidate should possess high scientific attainments with great influence in his own field of the world and obtain important achievements in public recognition.
(4) The candidate should promise to work in WUT for at least 2 months per year during the tenure of office.
Specially-appointed Professors
(1) The candidate should have enthusiasm to serve for WUT with noble science morality, rigid academic style, decent manners and cooperative spirit.
(2) The candidate should hold a doctor’s degree and is engaged in the front line of teaching and scientific researches with the limitation age of younger than 45 years old. To those scholars who are particularly distinguished and in urgent need, the limitation of age can be adjusted.
(3) The foreign candidate for “Cheung Kong Scholar” professorship should hold the assistant professorship or above (or a similar position) in universities and the domesticate candidate for it should hold professorship (or in a similar position for at least 3 years).
(4) The candidate should be competent for the lecturing of core courses.
(5) The candidate should be of great academic attainments and has made achievements generally acknowledged by people of the same occupation.
(6) The candidate should have potentials, creativity, vision and ability to lead his/her discipline to catch up with or surpass the international advanced level in its frontier area.
(7) The candidate should have the team spirit, the spirit of dedication and hard struggle, and the ability to organize, manage and lead a team of innovation to tackle key problems with coordinated efforts. He/she should know well how to cultivate new talents and intensify the training of the second echelon of academic studies.
(8) The “Cheung Kong Scholar” professor should work in WUT for at least 9 months per year during the tenure of office.
Chief Lecturing Professors
(1) The candidate should have enthusiasm to serve for WUT with noble science morality, rigid academic style, decent manners and cooperative spirit.
(2) The candidate should have long been engaged in teaching for undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and have ever undertaken basic professional courses or chief professional courses, which has received good comments from students and peer faculty members. The limitation of age is no older than 65.
(3) The overseas candidate should hold the assistant professorship or above (or a similar position) in universities and the domesticate candidate for it should hold professorship (or in a similar position for at least 5 years) who has ever obtained national teaching achievement award, or has ever taken charge of national excellent course.
(4) The candidate should promise to lecture 1-2 courses per year during the tenure of office.
Chutian Talents
(1) The candidate should have enthusiasm to serve for WUT with noble science morality, rigid academic style, decent manners and cooperative spirit.
(2) The candidate should hold a doctor’s degree of the university among top 100 in the world, or has been working for at least 1 year and has obtained great achievements in the above mentioned universities or famous overseas research institutes. The limitation of age is younger than 40.
(3) The candidate should finish the task independently.
(4) The candidate should promise to work full time in WUT.

Requests
① The applicant should be an overseas renowned professor or adjunct, associate professor or other exceptional talent in teaching, researching and discipline construction. Or,
② The applicant with a doctorate degree or post-doctoral experience in an overseas famous university or research institution should not be over 40 years old. Or,
③ In recent 5 years, the applicant has published high-level academic papers in field-related overseas journals or has achieved prominent research successes.
