| Dear students, alumni and friends, Welcome to Wuhan University of Technology! In the early 20th century China started the "State 211
Project", which endeavored to prepare China for the 21st century by establishing
100 universities to train students in a number of key disciplines and majors. In
time WUT became one of these "State 211 Project" institutions. As a national key
university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, WUT has
developed greatly, becoming a cradle of talent for sci-tech innovation and a
base for regional economic construction. |

In particular, the university has attached great importance to the improvement of international atmosphere on campus. WUT has established programs with over 100 universities and research institutes world-wide. Furthermore, the university has invited distinguished scholars from all over the world to hold lecture and has made more than 200 of them guest or honorary professors. We believe that with the joint efforts of our faculty and students, together with the support from all the members of our community, WUT will strive to achieve great successes with unity, determination, dedication and innovation. In this way we will compose a new beautiful chapter in the history of the university, one in which WUT will be transformed into an open, multi-disciplinary and research-oriented university with its own distinct characteristics. We aim to become a first-class university in China and to be an internationally renowned institution in certain disciplines.
